INHERENT CURIOSITY

I was born with an inherent
Curiosity
Where my backbone is supposed to be
A desire to shake the world
Instead of just exist
In it
-and this is what has brought me the most pain-
I pick at my half written poems
Like others pick at meals
I have been trained in the art of
Expanding
Myself
Sprawling across people’s hearts
Making a home of just about
Anybody
While others are being taught to shrink
Become
As insignificant as they can
And I cannot stand sticking out
Like a sore thumb
When all I want is to be a middle finger
Letting the world know
That it is wrong
So
Much
Of the time
