PLEASE KEEP THEM

You drew my emotions out like you were taking blood
and as they sat there in the syringe of your kiss
I fell apart in the most together way I knew how.
Your flaws are ocean waves and full moons
While mine stumble off of my fingertips like rainy days and sidewalk cracks
And now all I know is that the rain isn’t so bad
Because I learned to survive your hurricane
And the sky doesn’t seem as big knowing you’re under it too.
Laughing about the lines on the palms of your hands
You said my flaws were opening paragraphs in books and the sentences that catch everyone’s eye
Please keep them in the back pocket of your wallet
Because without you
They’re nothing but syllables and commas getting in the way of the poetry in people’s laughs
